Six Guns and Fountain Pens

Some will rob you with a six-gun, and some with a fountain pen.

(Woody Guthrie)

Our economic system depends on people borrowing money they can’t pay back, to buy things they don’t need and can’t afford.  Marketers have developed very effective techniques to get us to buy stuff we don’t need and to camouflage and hide charges in the hope that we won’t understand or question them.

Most of us are conditioned to be willing victims of the marketer’s techniques.  That’s why they work so well.

This website exposes some of those techniques and how they are used so effectively in banking, insurance, retail, professional services, and more. It does so by explaining these techniques and principles through pretend industry marketing experts.  It’s tongue-in-cheek, but demonstrates how some very successful marketing practices are used to persuade us to buy stuff we don’t need, and sometimes we don’t even want.

We welcome your input, feedback, and suggestions.

Enjoy!
